The entryway art installation uses towering Corten steel beams woven with steel ribbons to depict a needle and thread. The piece references Danville’s textile history while representing the way community, history and the city’s future are being woven together.
Even the location carries a much older story. The section of the Dan River beside the park was once known as Wynne’s Falls. Its shallow water made the river easier to cross, helping a settlement develop in the area during the 1700s. By 1793, that settlement had grown enough to be officially named Danville by the Virginia General Assembly.
